Cookie Policy

Cam2Cam.io stores a small amount of information in your browser, in cookies and in local storage. Here is what it is for, grouped by reason, and how to remove it.

Why the site stores anything at all

Without storage, a website forgets you between one click and the next. Everything below exists for one of six reasons. We do not list individual cookie names or lifetimes, because they change as the service is updated; your browser’s developer tools show every one, and you are welcome to ask us about a specific item.

Keeping you signed in

Your session, guest or registered, lives in the browser so a refresh does not log you out. A matching cookie lets an iPhone home-screen shortcut stay signed in. Without it, each visit begins fresh.

Preventing abuse

A device ID, stored both as a cookie and in local storage, helps us recognise fake accounts, fraud and people returning after a ban. Blocking it may break matching.

Remembering your settings

Language and matching preferences, so they stick between visits.

Knowing where visitors come from

The page you first arrived on and the link that led there, which tells us which links actually bring people in.

Making pages faster

Cached copies of profiles and match information you looked at recently, so they load quicker.

Not counting things twice

Single-use flags that stop a step like completing sign-up or a first purchase from being handled or counted again.

All of this stays on your device until you clear it. Clearing it signs you out and resets your settings.

Analytics

Cam2Cam.io uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It only runs if you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. Until then, and if you choose “Essential only”, it sends nothing. The banner covers analytics alone; the storage listed above is needed for sign-in and matching, so it is not part of that choice.

Pages run by other companies

Logging in through Google or Apple, or buying coins, briefly hands you over to pages owned by those firms or by a payment processor. Their cookies follow their policies, not this one, and the same applies once a link takes you off cam2cam.io.

Clearing or blocking storage

  • Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Delete browsing data, or Site settings for one site.
  • Safari on Mac: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data. On iPhone: the Settings app, then Safari.
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy and Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
  • Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.

Wiping cam2cam.io data logs you out and ends a guest session. Private and incognito windows forget everything once closed. If you block storage the site relies on, some features will stop working.

Changes

If the kinds of storage we use change, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed. How information is handled more broadly is in the privacy policy. Questions: [email protected].
