Who wrote this. This comparison is published by Cam2Cam.io, which is one of the five sites below, so read it with that in mind. Every fact about another site was checked against that site’s own home page on October 12, 2026, and is written as what the site says about itself. Sites change; if something here is out of date, tell us at the address in the footer.
How we picked and compared
A cam2cam site, for this list, is one where both people are on camera with each other: two-way video, usually with a stranger. That rules out one-way streaming sites, where a performer broadcasts to an audience, because it is a different thing altogether. Every site here runs in a web browser. We compared them on five questions.
- Do you need an account before your first chat?
- Is there an app, or is it browser only?
- How are you matched: at random, by interest, by location?
- What filters exist, and are they free or paid?
- What does the site say about moderation?
We did not compare prices. They change often, and several sites only show them after you sign in.

1. Cam2Cam.io: the plainest one-to-one cam2cam
This site. Its start button does one thing: puts you on a two-way video call with one stranger, in a browser tab. There is no sign-up form, because a guest session is created when you arrive, and your browser only asks for the camera and microphone once you reach the match screen. Next unlocks after a short countdown; hang up works at any time.
The start button is random with no filters. If you want more control, the app has profile lists you can browse, including tabs by language, and you can call someone from their profile. Longer calls can use coins, and the rate is shown before any are used. Good for: people who want to start in seconds and keep it to one conversation at a time.
2. Chatroulette: the original, with country filters
Chatroulette has been running since 2009 and is still the name most people think of first. Its home page says you do not need an account to start, that it has country filters, and that it offers apps for iOS and Android alongside the browser version. It asks you to confirm you are 18 or older before continuing, and describes its chats as AI-moderated with moderation around the clock.
Good for: people who want a well-known name and the option to narrow matches by country.
3. OmeTV: country and gender choices, plus apps
OmeTV describes itself as free video chat with no time limits. Before connecting you can choose a country, set your gender, or pick a couple mode, and there are apps on Google Play and the App Store. Its home page does not say whether an account is needed before your first chat, so check that on the site itself.
Good for: people who mostly chat on a phone and want a few choices before each match.
4. Emerald Chat: matched by interests
Emerald Chat is the one on this list that asks for an account first, an email and a password, though it says you stay anonymous to the people you meet. It supports both text and video, adds group channels, and matches people by shared interests. Gender, country and language filters come with its paid subscription tiers. It says it uses a mix of AI and human moderators.
Good for: people who would rather start from something in common than from pure chance.
5. Bazoocam: nearby people and small games
Bazoocam pairs you with people who live close to you, using your location, and works in several languages. It has a trick none of the others do: little one-on-one games such as Tetris, tic-tac-toe and four in a row, which take the pressure off when the conversation needs a break. It says a team of moderators watches the service.
Good for: people who like the idea of meeting someone from their own region, or who find a game an easier icebreaker than small talk.
How to choose between them
Start with the question that matters most to you. Want no account at all? Cam2Cam.io or Chatroulette. Want to filter before you meet anyone? OmeTV and Chatroulette offer that up front, Emerald Chat on paid tiers. Want shared interests? Emerald Chat. Want someone nearby? Bazoocam. Want the plainest possible two-way call? That is what we built.
Whichever you choose, the habits that make a cam to cam call go well are the same everywhere: good light, a tidy background, a first name only, and a willingness to tap Next without taking it personally. The five quick checks on our home page apply on any site.
Sites we left out, and why
We tried to include CamSurf and Chatspin as well, but could not load either site’s home page to check its claims on the day we compared, so we left them out rather than describe them from memory. Adult cam sites are left out on purpose, because most are one-way broadcasts rather than cam2cam. If a site you use belongs on this list, write to us and we will look at it for the next update.
Questions about cam2cam sites
What is the best free cam2cam site?
It depends on what you want. For no account and a fast start, Chatroulette and Cam2Cam.io both let you begin without signing up. For matching by interests, Emerald Chat is built around it. For meeting people nearby, Bazoocam pairs by location.
Are cam2cam sites safe?
The safer ones state a clear 18+ rule, make reporting easy to find and explain what costs money before charging. Whatever site you use, share only a first name and leave any call that makes you uncomfortable.
Why are adult cam sites not on this list?
Most of them are one-way streams where a performer broadcasts to many viewers. That is a different format from cam2cam, where two people are on camera with each other, so they do not belong in this comparison.
