Child Safety

Cam2Cam.io is a cam2cam video chat for adults. This page sets out how we deal with anything involving people under 18, and what you can do to help.

Last reviewed

Adults only

You have to be 18, or the higher age your country sets, to use Cam2Cam.io, and using it is your confirmation that you are. Information about younger people is never collected on purpose; when we find some, it is removed without delay. Shielding minors is written into our community guidelines as one of the seven principles.

Zero tolerance

  • Sexual content of any sort that involves someone under 18, whether in a call, a message, a profile, a post or a club.
  • Material that exploits minors in any way.
  • Photos or video of children used as avatars, album items, Moments or club pictures.
  • Approaching, grooming or pressuring a child, here or after steering them to another app.
  • A person under 18 on the service in any form, borrowed adult accounts included.

If you meet someone who may be under 18

  1. Leave the call. The hang-up button needs no countdown.
  2. Flag the account. From their profile, tap Report and pick the closest reason. Blocking them too is up to you.
  3. Email what you know. Write to [email protected] with the time, the nickname or profile, and a description of what happened. Please do not save or capture the material yourself.

When a child could be at risk at this moment, ring the police or your local emergency number before contacting us. They can act in ways we cannot.

Our response to reports

Where a report concerns a minor or material involving a minor, the steps open to us include:

  • taking the material down and restricting the account;
  • suspending the account or shutting it for good, which is what normally happens with sexual or exploitative material involving children;
  • erasing data gathered from someone underage;
  • preserving evidence connected to the case and handing it over in answer to a lawful request from the authorities.

Limits we are honest about

We do not ask for ID before a call, and no detection system is perfect. Members fill that gap. Very often the first person to realise something is off is the one on the other end of the call, so report it yourself rather than counting on someone else to.

Advice for parents and carers

Worried that your child has been on Cam2Cam.io or was contacted through it? Email us everything you have, for example a nickname, a rough time or screenshots of messages they got, and mention that you are the parent or carer. We can also close the child’s account and erase its data at your request. Sexual material should never be forwarded or attached, even to us: describe it, and report it to the police, who are able to handle it legally.

Parental controls on phones, tablets and browsers can block whole categories of website or specific addresses; switching them on helps. So do regular conversations about keeping their face and personal details away from strangers online, a lesson that applies far beyond any single site.
